This chapter covers public health insurance programs that are available as well as COBRA for those that have lost their jobs and an in-depth introduction to provider-based charity care. Charity care will be discussed in more detail in the following chapters.
If you don’t have health insurance you still have good options and I’m confdent that you’ll be able to get access to quality medical care. Depending on your annual income and your number of dependents, you may have access to free medical care at many not-for-proft hospitals.
